As a child I loved to escape into my own little world of imagination, scribbling down thoughts and turning them into stories. Today that dream is a reality…
…“Ten Scottie Dogs: Sitting on a Wall” is my rhyming counting Picture Book, with a Scottish twist, illustrated by Garry Thorburn and published by Forth Books on 31.10.25!
My short play “Lullaby” was showcased at a public performance (along with those of other local writers) in 2009. This was a culmination of a series of mentored workshops by a professional playwright and run by Dundee Rep Theatre. The experience I gained over this period was invaluable to me as a Playwright as it allowed me to work with professional writers, directors and actors and also to gauge the audience’s reaction to my work.
A second course that was invaluable, was being mentored by leading Playwright Douglas Maxwell who helped me to understand how to make my characters “believable”.
In a previous employment I designed and delivered a series of Creative Writing workshops, co-wrote scripts and booklets, was Editor and Co-Editor of two environmental publications and have done voice overs for local projects.
I have a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in “Professional Writing Skills”, HN Units in “Freelance Working Skills”, “Developing Entrepreneurial Skills”, “Writing for Print and Broadcast Media” and a PDA in “Introduction to Adult Literacies Learning”.
